Eggs & Bouncy Balls

We are all just juggling.

Juggling the demands of a job, family and friends.  Juggling emotions, thoughts and aspirations… we all have a lot of balls in the air and we’re constantly trying to keep them from crashing to the ground.

But honestly, we treat these balls like they are really fragile eggs.  We can visualize them shattering upon impact and spilling all their yolk around our feet.  This, of course, terrifies us so much that we continue to frantically juggle hoping that we can keep them all in the air, all the while becoming more stressed, frustrated and begin to lose focus on the true, important things in our lives.

Imagine what would happen if we started thinking of the objects we’re juggling as eggs AND as bouncy balls?

Think about it…if some of the objects were bouncy balls and NOT eggs you would actually ease up a bit. You would understand that it is actually OK to let a few balls drop, you can catch them and start jugging when you want to focus on those areas again.  This approach to balancing life’s challenges has helped me reduce my stress and anxiety because I’m trusting that everything isn’t weighed the same.  Some things are actually LESS important than others. It is a freeing approach to life for sure…

But what about the eggs though?

The eggs are the important things we don’t want to drop those at all.  They are the things that truly matter.  Our relationships with our loved ones, the vision God has put in our heart that we know we must fulfill, the vows we’ve made to ourselves and others or even the aid we know we must extend to those that need it.

The hardest part of this approach is the determination of the eggs and the bouncy balls.  This takes time and maturity to understand and also will change over time.

The next level progression of this thinking as a Christian is when I started applying the knowledge that God that can resurrect and make things new again – can also heal those eggs that may have already dropped or will drop soon enough.

And since we’re on the topic of God now,  isn’t it true that we shouldn’t actually be juggling in the first place?

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest…” Matthew 11:28

Mind = Blown
